Trump Tariffs

I think most Americans do not understand what Trump’s tariffs are causing. Trump's extremely hostile approach to tariffs are meant to drive a wedge between the U.S.A. and every individual in the world! Even if the tariffs are abolished, many individuals in the world would still have a negative opinion about products “Made in the U.S.A.”, American services, tourism in the U.S.A., etc., now and in the future.
The extreme manner Trump is handling the tariffs can only be equated to poking a stick in everyone’s eye. It will not be easily forgotten! Past American Presidents had their trade negotiators negotiate with other countries in a very low key manner to soften any hard feelings. Trump is determined to damage “the American Brand” and although it will recover somewhat, it will not fully recover for a long time.
Trump is trying to ruin the U.S.A. with the tariffs and other policies he is carrying out! There is no other reason for carrying out such sensitive policies in such a hostile manner! Anything else Trump or his people state is pure baloney! Trump and his cronies ask for more time before it gets better but that time will never come!
Trump is damaging America from the inside!
When Trump places a tariff on imports, it costs more for the consumer to purchase the same product. Consumers who purchased the foreign product previously did so because it was a better value based on cost and quality!
The consumer now has the choice of buying the foreign product at the new higher price with the tariff or a domestic product that may not be the same quality and/or at a higher price than they previously paid! This will leave the consumer with less money to purchase other items they previously purchased and so Americans in those industries will be laid off!
The foreign country then adds tariffs to American products, which decreases American products imported into their country. The foreign country decreases employment to make the product that now has an American tariff but increases employment to make the same product that now has their tariff on it. The same thing happens in America. The employment situation ends up being a zero sum game in both countries! Consumers in both countries pay higher prices than before! Consumers lose. This is not rocket science!
Tariffs are disruptive to business. Businesses then have to find other trading partners and will likely stick with them because volatility is harmful to business. People will be laid off in the industries negatively affected and must find jobs in other industries. Some businesses and employees lose through no fault of their own. For what purpose? Only to harm the American brand!
